Mountain View Construction, Inc.

You always hear about contractors standing behind their work, a fun catch phrase that carries with it a sense of confidence for the consumer.

And Mike LaPlante does, of course, guarantee his work. After more than 40 years in the business, he knows his work is solid, quality craftsmanship.

But he does more than just stand behind his product.

Mountain View Construction was established in 1983 and because of the sheer volume of homes and commercial constructions Mike has developed, he’s more than likely to stand inside his work.

Actually, most of us are.

It’s rare for any of us to go anywhere in St. Maries or the surrounding area where we don’t at least walk through a building crafted by Mike or drive by one of his custom-built homes on a near-daily basis.

But he does more than piece together brick and mortar. He constructs communities.

Mike is an integral part of the underpinnings of St. Maries because of his dedication to the town through volunteerism. He has served on several boards and with dozens of service organizations and continues to do so today, oftentimes holding important positions in multiple clubs simultaneously.

He currently serves as the chairman on the board of trustees for the Benewah Community Hospital, which just constructed a new hospital. He is also a board member of St. Maries Rotary and Timber Plus, a nonprofit organization made up of local businesspeople focused on economic development in the area. He is also a member of the St. Maries Elks Lodge, a member of the Benewah County Planning and Zoning Commission and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. And those are just the groups he’s currently involved in.

It’s evident that Mike believes there’s more than one way to build something.

And the best part?

The best part is I haven’t even gotten to the best part: Because of the longevity of Mike’s career, you don’t need to look far for a reference. A friend, neighbor or a complete stranger on your morning walk will surely have insight into the quality of his work. Another excellent place to start would be his web site.

But if you’re a St. Maries resident, chances are, you might only need to look out your front window.
